BEARWOOD TRUSSES The Bearwood design came about as a result of numerous requests from our customers to build a truss that would allow long spans, wide spacing and would eliminate any areas for birds to nest. The applications that lend themselves to the Bearwood design are primarily agricultural buildings where ventilation and bird proofing are the major design factors. As you can see in the pictures below, oriented strand board sheeting prevents birds from nesting and adds to the strength of the truss, and a treated plywood center section allows an open ridge for ventilation. General spacing for the Bearwood is 12'-0" on center, but special designs can achieve larger openings for doors or other design elements. Bear Truss has produced trusses of 65'-0" in length and 70'-0" is our maximum span at 12'-0 on center. Bear Truss can provide saddle hangers that will drop the purlins down between the trusses to help stabilize the building. The saddle hangers can be for either 2x6 or 2x8 purlins depending on the loading requirements. Bear Truss can provide a 40"x3/8" steel bracket that when used on both sides of the pole will assist in adding strength to the structure. Bear Truss has a lead time of around 2 weeks for all special order Bearwood trusses. Being a Michigan manufacturer, Bear Truss feels that we can compete with anyone in the agricultural building business.
